- Welcome to The Holy Art. Could you tell us a little more about your background, and how did you begin creating art?

I was born into an artist family. In a different way from my family I prefer the plane arts. (My mother studied ceramics and my father sculpting. My older sister works as an art therapist.) I was drawing and painting almost every free time in my childhood and being an artist was my only career aspiration.

- What art do you most identify with?

Collage, surrealism, graphic arts.

- Can you describe one artwork or series from your oeuvre that you feel was pivotal in your career?

I think the first „artwork“ that was pivotal thing to me was a collage I did with my mom. This picture with a globefish hung above my bed in the nursery I shared with my sister and probably was deciding for my career as a collage artist, because I liked it so much.

- Which other great artists inspire you and why?

During my academic studies I didn't want to be too influenced by other artists. I wanted to create like I do and not like others do and still I think the same. But to refer some big artists I can say Max Ernst and Dorothea Tanning, Leonora Carrington, Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keeffe, Hannah Höch, René Magritte, José Guadalupe Posada and Salvador Dalí inspired me.

REFLECTIONS

- Can you talk about the process of creating your work?

Usually I don´t have a special conception, how my collage has to look like or what I want to say. The best things happen when I go with the flow and give the coincidence/fluke a chance. (When the collage is ready mostly I have a feeling what it could mean, like a tarot card.) I love to make analog collages, but in the moment I make more digital art/collages, because I don´t have a studio and live in a one-room flat.

- What advice would you give to emerging artists entering the art world?

I wish I could give a good advice. Mine would be, maybe: Don't hesitate to show your work!

- What do you hope that the public takes away from your art?

I don´t expect that the public see, what I see in my pictures, but sometimes I wish for that would to be my ultimate goal . For example 2011 I studied in Mexico and I did an assemblage made from plastic trash from the beach. It is needless to say that I wanted the public to think about the plastic pollution especially in the ocean, but some people just saw the beautiful blond barbie mermaid puppet.

LOOK BOTH WAYS

- What is your dream project?

I have a lot of projects in my mind, but my dream is to live from my art, graphic design for musicians or theatre, textile design or my own music, No matter which project it would be.

-  Finally, are there any projects you are currently working on and able to speak about?

In the moment I try a risograph the first time. This is an ecological Japanese printing technology. Like serigraphy I have to separate the colours digitally before, but in the end it is a printer and not a person who does the print. It is not cheap, however perfect for me. Because my left hand is marred due to an accident. I made the print in exchange for a vinyl from Oliver Shaw, a very talented musician I once met in London and hope to sell some other prints of this edition.
