Sonja Holzknecht

Sonja Holzknecht is a self-taught artist from Austria living in London.

Her work is inspired by the realisation that each passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.

As a colour palette she chooses a mix of analogous and complementary colours to express harmony and dissonance. Her main theme are stairs. They represent the ups and downs everyone encounters when they go through life and how by changing the perspective a down can be turned into an up and the other way around.

She prefers pens as her main medium simply because of practical reasons but also enjoys the accuracy of digital art and the vibrancy of oil colours.
